Sustainable products
The carbon footprint of animal fats and proteins is smaller than that of vegetable oils and fats. For example, palm oil and soya oil are produced from crops that are grown specifically for their oil. In contrast, animals are raised primarily for the meat, dairy products, eggs and wool they produce. Ten Kate only uses the by-products of these animals, such as their fat, in its high-quality products.
In addition, our fats and proteins are natural products, without any added substances. They are GMO- and allergen-free.
Energy efficiency
Our production processes are designed to use energy efficiently, keep down CO2 emissions and avoid wasting valuable raw materials.
We have formed an eco-cluster with other companies by integrating some of our processes with those of our customers and using the residual heat from other companies. In this way, we use energy and water efficiently and reduce the volume of transport.
Recycling of raw materials
We do not waste any scarce raw materials. In our view, there is no such thing as waste. Using smart processes, we extract every scrap of fat and protein from our raw materials. Any residual products that we do not use ourselves can then be used as a raw material by other companies.
